Lights, Camera, Action: Our Trojans are ready for their close up! Pictured is Persaus Ketchum, a sophomore, during Broadcasting class. The class produces McKinley's daily televised announcements. Students work on scripts, editing, filming, and creating graphics each day, allowing for hands-on experience in front of and behind the camera.

Ms. April Habeger officially began her role as district Treasurer in May, but we wanted to make it Facebook official! Ms. Habeger brings a wealth of diversified experience to our district from banking to public accounting, and previous district assistant treasurer roles. When she's not working, Ms. Habeger enjoys water sports, reading, roller skating and spending time with her four daughters and white German Shepard.

Over the summer our district completed several improvement projects. Improvements included work on McKinley’s roof, parking lot repair, and modernizing the HVAC system to better control energy efficiency with heating and cooling of the buildings.

Welcome to our first "What We're Learning Wednesday" of the year! Today we are taking a look inside new 4th grade ELA teacher, Miss Marshalek's, classroom.
Our 4th grade Trojans begin each day with a creative writing prompt. Today's prompt was, "You woke up in a jungle. What happens next?" Students' imaginations got to work as they wrote for ten minutes describing what might happen if they woke up in a jungle. This daily writing prompt exercise allows students to write creatively while strengthening their vocabulary, grammar, sequencing, and handwriting.

The Sunshine Bus completed its tour of our district today with a visit to B.L. Miller.
Last week we shared a tour of the bus during its visit to McKinley and this morning our littlest Trojans were able to load up on snacks, hygiene products, a book, and a stuffed animal.
We are so thankful to have The Brightside Project's Sunshine Bus support our district and "brighten" the beginning of our Trojans' year!
