Mrs. Everhart’s class took a lesson from the 7-Mindset program and put it into practice. The lesson centered around the concept of “Thanking it Forward”, recognizing the important work each of us contributes to our environment. Students thought of someone who works in our school who does not receive much recognition. Nearly all the students thought of our custodian, Mr. Miller. Students decided to make Mr. Miller a card and got him donuts. A great example of students “Thanking it Forward”.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Trojans!

When Mrs. Mathias asked her senior Trojans what Sebring traditions from B.L. Miller they missed most, "Special Persons Lunch" was the unanimous answer and so began a fun assignment for Senior English class.
Students organized a "Special Persons Lunch" recently for which they created "Food for Thought" conversation starters. Seniors invited a special guest to lunch and delved into questions like, "What advice would you give your senior?"What is a quality you hope they never lose?"", and "What is something they taught you?". It was a wonderful experiential learning day for our seniors as they quickly approach the end of their time at McKinley!

Sebring McKinley High School's “Students Against Destructive Decisions” Club participated in Teen Dating Violence and Awareness Month in February. SADD sponsored an art contest and Cameron Withrow's poster was the winner! The club also had students sign a pledge at lunch committing themselves to seeking healthy relationships.

A BIG Trojan Congratulations to Mrs. Mathias, who won "Educator of the Year" at last night's Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber's award ceremony.
Last night marked the second consecutive year a Trojan teacher won a prestigious category at the valley's "Educator of the Year" award ceremony. We are a district full of talented, dedicated, exemplary educators and we are proud that Mrs. Mathias was honored as a reflection not only of our district but of our entire Sebring community. Mrs. Mathias accepted her award in front of 400 attendees and nominees from districts across the tri-county area. Perhaps the biggest evidence of Mrs. Mathias' positive influence was that Sebring graduate, Ryan Burd, was also nominated for the top award and was seated at her table. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Mathias for her impact and incredible contributions to our district!

Kindergarten is 100 days smarter and older! Kindergarten students celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing as 100-year-olds and participating in activities involving the number “100”.

Spring is coming Trojans! Mark your calendars for these upcoming B.L. Miller and McKinley dates.

Happy Presidents Day, Trojans. We will see you tomorrow when classes resume.

Congratulations to senior, Ava Coen, and junior, Reagan Buchs for winning the American Legion Americanism in Government Contest. The competition consisted of a civics test with an essay component. Mr. Tim Haynes from Legion Post 574 presented the pair of Trojans their award certificates, earning them a place in a forthcoming District competition. The pair is pictured with Mrs. Lee, McKinley's Government teacher.

What We Are Learning:
Mrs. Lee’s Government students put what they’ve been learning in the classroom into action with mock trials. The classroom was transformed into a courtroom as students played their assigned roles of lawyers, a judge, witness, jury, defendant and more!
