Sebring Local School District
Board of Education Statement
November 24, 2025
The Board has been made aware of online communication that questions the Sebring Local School District’s concern for the safety of those on its school grounds. A member of the public has alleged that a student was sexually assaulted by another student in the gymnasium during a United Way after-school program. The Board does not typically respond to allegations or comments from members of the public. However, due to the seriousness of the allegations, we believe it is important to not just address the accusations, but to refute those allegations.
Allegedly, the incident took place during an after-school event that was being run by the United Way, and not the school district. Once the administration was made aware of the allegations, they conducted a thorough investigation. All video was reviewed during the after-school program of the gymnasium during the dates the assault was alleged to have occurred. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, additional dates beyond the reported timeframe were also reviewed to ensure nothing was missed. The review shows absolutely no evidence of the alleged assault. Based on the allegations, the assault would have been easily visible on the video. Also, there are no blind spots in the gymnasium. As a result, any such activity would have been recorded by the cameras. In addition, the adults assigned to the gymnasium, who are employed by the after-school program, were interviewed and provided written statements that they did not see any suspicious activity. As a result, there was no need for the district to send a letter home to parents warning them of something that had not occurred.
It is because of our ardent commitment to protecting each child in our district that we will not tolerate unfounded speculation of district negligence. Parents, be assured that when a situation arises, we execute the appropriate protocol enacted by trained professionals. Additionally, we are required to fully comply with and cooperate with legal proceedings when necessary. There is no exception. If members of the public are here to comment on this matter during public participation, they are welcome to do so. However, we will make no comments beyond those I have just provided.
