Thank you veterans for your dedication and service to our country. Millcreek Metro Parks Farm taught our 3rd grade students about harvesting and the very first Thanksgiving! Seventh & Eighth grade students enjoyed a slime making experiment in class! Spanish 3 students put on Skeleton Puppet Shows in celebration of Day of the Dead! Our Spanish students celebrated Day of the Dead! Thank you to Catherine Bosley for speaking with our students about the importance of social media awareness. Congratulations to our newly elected 5th grade Student Senate! We have Trojan Spirit everyday, but especially during Spirit Week! Our kindergarten classes enjoyed their apple orchard tour on a field trip to White House Fruit Farm. Thank you so much to our All Star Alumni George Clark, Christopher Clemens, Destinee Green, Emma Holodnak and Zane Twaddle for sharing their stories with our students! Two groups of McKinley students attended the first Skilled Trades Expo held at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Our students did an awesome job with their summer reading logs and enjoyed our picnic celebration! The high school marching band had an awesome performance at the Canfield Fair this year! Our Cheerleaders did an awesome job representing Sebring in the Canfield Fair Cheerleading Demonstration! Alex Sheen, Founder of Because I Said I Would, spoke with McKinley students about his inspirational journey and how the concept of promise cards came to be. Our elementary students are ready to learn and looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year! Our students are ready to discover their story this school year, as part of our McKinley school theme - What's Your Story? Sebring McKinley Junior High School offers robotics. Sebring McKinley has a talented and passionate staff, who are dedicated to the students they teach. Sebring Local Schools are 1 to 1 in technology, meaning each student has his/her own Chromebook. Students in Mrs. Walsh's kindergarten class eat their breakfast and work on a project. Positive messages can be seen throughout the walls inside both school buildings. Families are Invited to Dinner at Our Sebring McKinley House

SEBRING, OH - All Sebring McKinley Jr./Sr. High School families and students are invited to attend “Dinner at Our House Family Night.” The evening will take place from 5:30-7:30 on Thursday, November 21st. 

Sebring McKinley will be showcasing classes and providing exciting sessions to give families a peek at daily life in our Sebring McKinley house. There will also be a complimentary dinner between sessions.

There is no cost to attend this fun filled evening. Attendees are asked to enter through the auditorium doors. An invitation to enjoy the dinner was sent home with students, as reservations were required.

Sebring Local Schools Invite Veterans to Attend School Programs

SEBRING, OH -  Sebring Local Schools invite all local veterans to attend Veterans Day program as our schools honor them for their dedication and service to our country. 

Sebring McKinley Jr./Sr. High School welcome veterans to enjoy a cup of coffee and a slice of coffee cake at 7:30 a.m. on November 11th. The Veterans Day program will follow at 8 a.m.  

B.L. Miller Elementary School will hold its Veterans Day Program at 10:15 a.m. on November 11th.

Sebring Students Celebrate Day of the Dead

SEBRING, OH - Students in Senora Thagard’s Spanish classes celebrated Day of the Dead with a variety of fun activities. 

Spanish 4 students baked delicious Rice Krispie Treats that they shaped into skulls and decorated to look like traditional Day of the Dead decor. 

Spanish 3 students put on a skeleton puppet show. Students were separated into pairs and created skeleton characters, drafted spanish dialogue, and put on a puppet show for their classmates. 

Day of the Dead, which is celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd, is a holiday celebration that honors deceased loved ones in Mexico, Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries.

Sebring McKinley Welcome Alumni Back for Second Annual Alumni Series

SEBRING, OH -  Sebring McKinley Jr./Sr. High School will welcome 5 alumni back on Wednesday, October 2nd at 9 a.m. for their Second Annual Alumni Series. 

Class of 2015 graduates George Clark, Christopher Clemens, Destinee Green, Emma Holodnak and Zane Twaddle will speak with students about their paths post high school, where they are now and how they got there. Students will also have an opportunity to ask questions. 

The next Alumni Series event will take place on Friday, November 22nd.

Sebring Local Schools Make Great Progress on School Report Card

SEBRING, OH - The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) released the 2018-2019 school year report cards for districts across the state. Sebring Local Schools has showed immense progress this past school year . 

The purpose of the Ohio School Report Cards is to measure the district and school performance in the areas most critical to success in learning, as well as information on academic and financial performance. According to ODE’s website, “the Ohio School Report Cards data shows educators, school administrators and families where their schools are succeeding as well as areas where they need to improve.”

Sebring Local Schools overall grade increased to a “C”, from the previous grade of a “D”. The district has also made great improvements in the areas of Progress and Gap Closing, scoring a “B” in both categories.

Four-Time TEDx Speaker to Share Insights with Students at Sebring Local Schools

SEBRING, OH - Because I Said I Would founder, author and four-time TEDx speaker, Alex Sheen, will bring his inspirational movement to Sebring McKinley Jr./Sr. High School on Friday, August 23rd at 9 a.m. in the auditorium. 

Because I Said I Would is a social movement and nonprofit dedicated to the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept. The group is changing lives through Promise Cards; more than 11.3 million have been distributed internationally.

One hundred percent of Alex's speaking engagement fees go directly to the charity and their programs. Those funds help his organization produce impactful programming, such as volunteer projects, character education in schools, high school Chapters and awareness campaigns with global reach. 

Sheen will speak with Sebring staff and students about how his promise card movement began, how they inspire others to keep their promises and the impact it has around the world. Students will receive a bracelet and promise card, as well as have the opportunity to meet Alex at a meet & greet following his presentation. 

Each member of the Sebring McKinley staff is being provided a copy of his book and a t-shirt. 

“We are working on a Sebring Promise this school year and with a major focus on the theme of keeping promises in the district,” said Toni Viscounte, Sebring Local School Superintendent. “We have also an art projected planned that will be centered around our pledge.”
