Thursday morning, assemblies at Sebring McKinley and B.L. Miller welcomed and honored those who have served.
The morning began with an 8:00 a.m. assembly at McKinley. Students watched a video about the history of Veterans Day and the band performed God Bless America. As the Armed Services Medley played, students applauded each branch of the armed forces and, at the request of a veteran in attendance, students stood for the branches in which their family members have served. The assembly concluded with a playing of Taps. As students filed out, they thanked the veterans in attendance at the event.
At 10:00 a.m., B.L. Miller students from kindergarten through second grade lined the hallways to greet veterans. As their guests came in, the students cheered and showed off artwork displaying thanks to the veterans. The building’s third, fourth, and fifth grade students sang patriotic songs to honor the service and commitment of veterans, both in attendance and those they know.
