Sebring McKinley Holiday Food Collection is no Trick

Trick or Treat for turkeys 2022

November 3, 2022

On Sunday, October 30, Sebring McKinley Ecology Club students went trick-or-treating, but not for treats …rather, they sought donations to feed local families this holiday season.

The group of nineteen high school students visited houses in Sebring village, seeking donations for turkeys and hams for holiday food baskets. Through the generous contributions of Sebring residents, the group raised $849.64 - surpassing last year’s donations by nearly $250!

Each year, the Ecology Club’s fundraising efforts help purchase the main entree - turkey or ham - for 20 families. These donations will be distributed to families along with nonperishable items collected through the Sebring McKinley Jr. High Student Senate Thanksgiving food drive November 8-18, 2022. Items collected include popular holiday staples such as stuffing and gravy to much-needed self-care items including shampoo and dental hygiene products.

Any community members who missed Sunday’s visits and wish to contribute to the Ecology Club collection can bring donations to the McKinley office.
