Sebring McKinley sixth- and seventh-grade students recently welcomed a guest speaker with insights into the culture and ancient history of Egypt.
Ahmed Elkhafif, an area resident who grew up in Egypt, spoke to Ms. Lanham’s sixth-grade students about Ancient Egypt. The students were engrossed in Elkhafif’s discussion of the pyramids, mummies, The Valley of the Kings and other topics relating to the study of Ancient Egypt.
The sixth-graders researched similar topics, joining the discussion and sharing their knowledge with Elkhafif. The students put this knowledge on display through the creation of exhibits for an Egyptian Museum that families were able to view at conferences last week.
Elkhafif also spoke to Mrs. Cooper’s seventh-grade Social Studies class about Islamic Civilization. The class listened intently as he shared about his culture and life in Egypt, providing students valuable insight as he brought his knowledge and unique experiences to life.

Sebring McKinley junior high students created displays for an Egyptian Museum using their newly acquired knowledge of Ancient Egypt. The museum was on display for families to see during conferences in February.

Sebring McKinley sixth- and seventh-grade students welcomed guest speaker Ahmed Elkhafif through a virtual chat, gaining insights and information about the history and culture of Egypt.
