The positive attributes of each Sebring elementary student were recognized and awarded at the B.L. Miller first semester awards assembly on Friday, January 27, 2023.
As each group of students gathered in the gym, surrounded by their supportive families and dedicated district staff, something positive was recognized and celebrated in each of them. “There’s something positive about every single one of you,” said B.L. Miller Principal Nichole Hanley.
Awards were handed out for academic achievements including mastery of skills, student growth, spelling bee participation, and honor and merit roll. But the awards reached far beyond the academic skills students learn and captured the positive contributions each student’s personality brings to their classroom. Students were recognized for their cheerful demeanors, their ability to work with others, their kindness, creativity, and more.
In addition to student awards, B.L. Miller as a whole was also recognized for earning the PBIS Bronze award. State Support Team 5 representative Jessica Detec presented a certificate at the assemblies, recognizing the hard work Sebring B.L. Miller staff and students have put forth in attaining the first level of the PBIS framework (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) through the B.L. Miller Promises - to be respectful, responsible, safe, and positive - and Purple Positives that recognize students for fulfilling these promises.
