Our students learned a lot about fire safety and how to be prepared in school and at home! Thank you to everyone who helped make our Trick or Treat for Turkeys Fundraiser a huge success this year! Our 2nd graders put on a delightful Harvest program for families and our PTO provided a delicious Thanksgiving lunch! Thank you to everyone who attended our "Dinner at Our House" Family Night! Our McKinley staff put together a wonderful Harvest lunch for our students! Our Kindergartners enjoyed dressing up as turkeys and eating a delicious Thanksgiving lunch! Thank you veterans for your dedication and service to our country. Millcreek Metro Parks Farm taught our 3rd grade students about harvesting and the very first Thanksgiving! Seventh & Eighth grade students enjoyed a slime making experiment in class! Spanish 3 students put on Skeleton Puppet Shows in celebration of Day of the Dead! Our Spanish students celebrated Day of the Dead! Thank you to Catherine Bosley for speaking with our students about the importance of social media awareness. Congratulations to our newly elected 5th grade Student Senate! We have Trojan Spirit everyday, but especially during Spirit Week! Our kindergarten classes enjoyed their apple orchard tour on a field trip to White House Fruit Farm. Thank you so much to our All Star Alumni George Clark, Christopher Clemens, Destinee Green, Emma Holodnak and Zane Twaddle for sharing their stories with our students! Two groups of McKinley students attended the first Skilled Trades Expo held at the Canfield Fairgrounds. Our students did an awesome job with their summer reading logs and enjoyed our picnic celebration! The high school marching band had an awesome performance at the Canfield Fair this year! Our Cheerleaders did an awesome job representing Sebring in the Canfield Fair Cheerleading Demonstration! Alex Sheen, Founder of Because I Said I Would, spoke with McKinley students about his inspirational journey and how the concept of promise cards came to be. Our elementary students are ready to learn and looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year! Our students are ready to discover their story this school year, as part of our McKinley school theme - What's Your Story? Sebring McKinley Junior High School offers robotics. Sebring McKinley has a talented and passionate staff, who are dedicated to the students they teach. Sebring Local Schools are 1 to 1 in technology, meaning each student has his/her own Chromebook. Students in Mrs. Walsh's kindergarten class eat their breakfast and work on a project. Positive messages can be seen throughout the walls inside both school buildings. Monday, Dec. 3 - The third graders in Mrs. Leann Laure’s class are holding a Christmas Canned Food Drive at B.L. Miller Elementary School. The food drive goes until Wednesday, Dec. 19. All contributions made will be distributed to families of our school who are in need this holiday season. The class that brings in the most cans by 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 19 will be treated to a pizza party on Thursday, Dec 20.  There will be one winner from the K-3 classes and one winner from the 4-6 classes.

There will be one chosen item that if brought in on Friday, will be worth 10 points to the class. Friday, Dec. 7 the special items are jars of peanut butter (16 oz. or greater) and jars of jelly (12 oz. or greater).

Grades 4-6 are also having a competition to benefit Mrs. Laure’s Christmas Canned Food Drive.  Grade 4 is asked to bring in canned vegetables  (corn, green beans or potatoes). These are the only 3 that can count for the 4-6 challenge.  Grade 5 is asked to bring in ravioli, SpagehettiO’s, Beef A Roni, etc. Grade 6 is asked to bring in mac n cheese. These items do NOT need to be a brand name. Thank you and we look forward to helping Mrs. Laure’s mission

 

Monday, Dec. 3 - Friday, Dec. 7 - B.L. Miller Elementary School’s Secret Santa Shop will be open throughout the week. The shop will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6.

Wednesday, Dec. 5 - Kindergarten parents are invited to our inaugural Jingle & Mingle. From 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., parents will work with their child practicing how to help kindergartners learn to read and how to help them learn to practice sight words.

Friday, Dec. 7 -  The Sebring McKinley Junior and Senior High School choir and band will present its Christmas Concert in the auditorium at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 8 - Holiday Cheer Extravaganza will be held in the high school gym.  Doors open at 10 a.m. and the competition begins at 11 a.m. It is $5.00 per person to enter.  Concessions will be available and a 50/50 will be held throughout the day.

Attention students in grades 7-11 interested in participating in Sebring's College Credit Plus Program next year.  

College Credit Plus can help you earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college-level courses right here at the high school. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking College Credit Plus courses are free. That means no cost for tuition, books or fees.

Important actions/dates to remember

1) You must have a letter of intent completed and returned to Mr. Michael D'Amico, the school guidance counselor if you wish to participate in the program ASAP.  You can pick one up in the high school office.

2) Monday, December 10th- Eastern Gateway Community College will visit our school to help submit applications to participate in the College Credit Plus program. You must have your letter of intent signed and returned to Mr. Michael D'Amico to participate.
