Student Photograph Release

In recent years, it has become common for school districts to post photographs of students online.  Usually, such photographs can be found on the school districts’ websites.  However, many school districts are expanding their use of such photographs by posting them on Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and other social media platforms.  The Sebring Local School District intends to follow suit.  However, because some people may not be comfortable with this new use of photographs, the District is providing all parents and adult students another opportunity to “opt-out” of having their photographs posted online by the District.

SENIOR PICTURES FOR THE YEARBOOK

Reminder to all seniors, you must have a high resolution photo to LSegretario@sebring.k12.oh.us by Friday, April 13th for the yearbook.  If you do not send in a photo, your lifetouch photo that was taken in the fall will be put in the yearbook and on the senior composite that hanges in the main hall.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Segretario.

For the student to have any medications administered next school the nurse will need all new orders, that includes ANY prescription AND/OR over-the-counter medications--even cough drops.  Remember, too, any ACTION PLANS for seizures, asthma, diabetes, and allergies will need renewed.

3. The nurse CANNOT send medications home with the student on the last day of school. The parent MUST come to the school to pick it up. If the parent has not come to the school to pick up the medication it will be disposed of. Medications are not allowed to be left in the school over the summer.

Tdap AND MENIGOCOCCAL VACCINE CLINIC

Last call for the Tdap and meningococcal vaccine clinic.  The Mahoning County Health Department will be here May 12th to administer vaccines to those who have signed up and returned all paperwork.  The forms are in the high school and BL offices. I would need the following in order for your student to receive the vaccine(s):

1.  the completed forms

2.  a copy of your driver's license

3.  a front and back copy of your insurance card

If you could have those papers turned into the school clinic this week that would be helpful. The health department needs time to verify the insurance information. Remember all incoming 7th graders need the TDap and the meningococcal vaccine and all incoming seniors need to have had the TDap and 2 doses of the meningococcal vaccines.  If you have any questions please feel free to call me.  Thanks,  Vicki Tibbs RN

Student Growth on OAA Testing Improves
Thank You Maurice Clarett

Maurice Clarett spoke at our school on Friday, Sept. 26th.  He was named the USA Today's National Player of the Year graduating from Warren G. Harding H.S. in 2001 before going to The Ohio State UNiversity. As a true freshman he lead the Buckeyes to the NCAA National Championship under Coach Jim Tressel.  After that season his life began to spiral downward because of poor decisions.  Maurice spent three and a half years in prison.  Since his release in 2010 he has worked hard to regain integrity and to restore his life while helping others.  Most recently Maurice completed a documentary film entitled, "Youngstown Boys" about his life with ESPN's 30 for 30.  We thank Maurice for sharing his story and we wish him the very best.  A special thank you to Damascus Friends Church for providing us with this unique experience.

MAURICE CLARETT TO SPEAK

As a freshman under Coach Jim Tressel in 2002, Maurice Clarett lead the Ohio State Buckeyes to a NCAA National Championship defeating the Miami Hurricanes.  Maurice will speak to our students this Friday.  We would like to thank Damascus Friends Church and event coordinator Steve Lowe for this unique opportunity.  Maurice earned USA Today's high school national football player of the year and was a Parade All-American.  He was one of the most gifted true freshman running backs in college history rushing for 1,237 yards and scoring 18 touchdowns.  After the 2002 championship seasons his life spiraled downward.  He spent 3 1/2 years in prison.  His story will be an important one for our students.
