Eight Sebring McKinley Junior High School students attended the Youngstown State English Festival on Friday, April 12, 2019. Paolo DeMaria, Ohio Department of Education's Superintendent of Public Instruction, observes an interactive read aloud in Mrs. Kandel's class. Jake Arbitter, Haley Jackson, and Savanna Rowe were the speakers for the seventh edition of the "All-Star Alumni Series" Sebring McKinley High School was one of 14 local schools to be represented at the 10th annual JA Titan Business Challenge. Mahoning Valley Historical Society visited B.L. Miller for its Suitcase Presentation. Sebring McKinley High School's nine newest members of the National Honor Society: Jacob Hunter, Miles Shoffner, Noah Dennis, Camden Green, Zane Peterson, Hannah Warner, Chasity Smarr, Brenna Soules, and Joseph Clark. B.L. Miller Elementary hosted Family Fun Night, where students experienced STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) activities with loved ones. High school students unveil how much money was raised during February to provide #HopeForBrenden. The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, and Thing 2 visited B.L. Miller Elementary School to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. Shawn and Mary Jackson returned to Sebring High School for the "All-Star Alumi Series" on Thursday, February 21, 2019. These B.L. Miller Elementary 4-6 students won awards for the school's art show on Thursday, February 14, 2019. These B.L. Miller Elementary K-3 students won awards for the school's art show on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Freshman Mary Quinn won the 10th Annual Danielle Scott Memorial Poetry Contest, which is sponsored by The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. B.L. Miller Elementary kindergarten students celebrated the 100th day of school by creating their own shirts. The elementary girls basketball players were recognized during a high school girls basketball game. Sebring Local School District presented certificates to school board members for School Board Recognition Month. The 2019 Sebring McKinley High School Winter Homecoming Court: Kendra Shields, Aebigayle D'Ostroph, Devyn Reggi, Isabelle Jackson, Kyleisha Jays, Keyarra Nelson Great job by the B.L. Miller Elementary School spelling bee participants. Jay Zheng was the winner. 2017 Sebring McKinley graduates Madeline Kreitzer, Danielle Porter, Kyle Youmans, and Brandon Dare returned for the 5th edition of the "All-Star Alumni Series." Spanish IV created piñatas to celebrate Christmas, which is a tradition in Mexico. B.L. Miller Elementary second-graders interviewed for jobs at the North Pole. B.L. Miller Elementary hosted "Jingle &  Mingle" to help families improve kindergarten students’ reading skills at home. Mrs. Laure's annual Christmas food drive enters its 24th year. WKBN and The Alliance Review stopped by to highlight it. B.L. Miller Elementary students touring the Ohio Supreme Court. Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith French took the time to meet B.L. Elementary School students on their tour of the Ohio Supreme Court. Justice French is a Sebring alumna. Mr. Linko was recognized by the Alliance Chamber of Commerce. Sebring's Drama Department performed The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by Michelle Vacca B.L. Miller Elementary School's Annual Veterans Day Program B.L. Miller Elementary's Annual Harvest Party Congratulations to the 2018 Homecoming Court: Jocelyn McMillen, Gabrielle Lozoya, Addison Brendlinger, Hannah Warner, Skye Somerville, and Riley Newell. Sebring McKinley Junior High School offers robotics. Sebring McKinley Jr./Sr. High School's "All-Star Alumni Series" Purple & Gold Day during Spirit Week at B.L. Miller Elementary Kindergarten students enjoying Spirit Week Sebring McKinley has a talented and passionate staff, who are dedicated to the students they teach. Sebring Local Schools are 1 to 1 in technology, meaning each student has his/her own Chromebook. Students in Mrs. Walsh's kindergarten class eat their breakfast and work on a project. Positive messages can be seen throughout the walls inside both school buildings. Monday, April 15 - Thursday, April 18th - End of Course (EOC) Testing for both B.L. Miller Elementary and Sebring Jr./Sr. High School.  Please check the school web page under District News or the school calendar for grade and subject area.

 

Prom tickets go on sale until Thursday, April 18 at 12:00 p.m. 2019 Prom: A Moonlight Jamboree will be Saturday, April 27. Note: NO tickets sales on Wednesday, April 17. Tickets are $40 each, and you will be assigned a table when you purchase a ticket.  If you are bringing an out of school guest, you must have them approved before you purchase his/her ticket. MCCTC students need to arrange a time with Mrs. Mathias as table assignments are done when tickets are purchased.  You can contact her at nmathias@sebring.k12.oh.us. Tickets are $40 each. If you are bringing an out of school guest, you must have them approved before you purchase his/her ticket.  You will also receive your waiver and permission slips for the after prom. Both are due back by April 18th if you want to attend after prom.

 

Monday, April 15 - B.L. Miller Elementary will hold its volunteer luncheon.

 

Thursday, April 18 - Bring in your newspapers, magazines, cardboard, plastic bottles, aluminum and steel cans, and batteries.  These items are worth one point per pound. Old cell phones are 20 points each and Ink cartridges, personal electronics, game systems, DVDs, and movies are 10 points per item. Items will be collected during Enrichment Friday morning and every Friday morning for the month of April.  The winning enrichment class will get a Monday morning treat.

Saturday, April 27 - Prom 2019 A Moonlight Jamboree will be held at A La Cart Catering.  Doors for promenade and pictures will open at the school at 4:30 p.m.  Promenade will be at 5:00 p.m. (Please note there are other events at the high school that day. Parking may be limited.)

Doors to prom will open at 5:45 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m., the dance will conclude at 10:00 p.m. The after-prom will be held at Sebring High School following the prom from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Activities will include laser tag, inflatables, basketball, spike ball, minute to win it games, trivia games, corn hole, and an escape room. There will also be food and prizes.
