Monday, Dec. 3 - The third graders in Mrs. Leann Laure’s class are holding a Christmas Canned Food Drive at B.L. Miller Elementary School. The food drive goes until Wednesday, Dec. 19. All contributions made will be distributed to families of our school who are in need this holiday season. The class that brings in the most cans by 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 19 will be treated to a pizza party on Thursday, Dec 20. There will be one winner from the K-3 classes and one winner from the 4-6 classes.
There will be one chosen item that if brought in on Friday, will be worth 10 points to the class. Friday, Dec. 7 the special items are jars of peanut butter (16 oz. or greater) and jars of jelly (12 oz. or greater).
Grades 4-6 are also having a competition to benefit Mrs. Laure’s Christmas Canned Food Drive. Grade 4 is asked to bring in canned vegetables (corn, green beans or potatoes). These are the only 3 that can count for the 4-6 challenge. Grade 5 is asked to bring in ravioli, SpagehettiO’s, Beef A Roni, etc. Grade 6 is asked to bring in mac n cheese. These items do NOT need to be a brand name. Thank you and we look forward to helping Mrs. Laure’s mission
Monday, Dec. 3 - Friday, Dec. 7 - B.L. Miller Elementary School’s Secret Santa Shop will be open throughout the week. The shop will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6.
Wednesday, Dec. 5 - Kindergarten parents are invited to our inaugural Jingle & Mingle. From 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., parents will work with their child practicing how to help kindergartners learn to read and how to help them learn to practice sight words.
Friday, Dec. 7 - The Sebring McKinley Junior and Senior High School choir and band will present its Christmas Concert in the auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 8 - Holiday Cheer Extravaganza will be held in the high school gym. Doors open at 10 a.m. and the competition begins at 11 a.m. It is $5.00 per person to enter. Concessions will be available and a 50/50 will be held throughout the day.
Attention students in grades 7-11 interested in participating in Sebring's College Credit Plus Program next year.
College Credit Plus can help you earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college-level courses right here at the high school. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking College Credit Plus courses are free. That means no cost for tuition, books or fees.
Important actions/dates to remember
1) You must have a letter of intent completed and returned to Mr. Michael D'Amico, the school guidance counselor if you wish to participate in the program ASAP. You can pick one up in the high school office.
2) Monday, December 10th- Eastern Gateway Community College will visit our school to help submit applications to participate in the College Credit Plus program. You must have your letter of intent signed and returned to Mr. Michael D'Amico to participate.
